Just a kind note of thanks for all you have done for me and my family. For 23 years I lived with inescapable jaw pain that was increasingly getting worse. I always knew something was wrong with my jaw, but could never find a doctor that could give me a diagnosis and a cure. Every doctor I consulted would eventually suggest I "learn to live with the pain". So I did.

 

As the years went on other health problems started; debilitating migraines, Ear aches, double-vision, numbness in my hands, ringing in my ears, and many sleepless nights. I spent a year in specialists offices trying to figure out what was wrong until I came into your office for a routine dental cleaning. In less than an hour I had more answers than I heard in 23 years. The most amazing thing was, I also heard you say there was a cure.

 

After being placed in a removable orthotic, I immediately felt better. For the first time in decades I was sleeping through the night, and did not have to take several doses of ibuprofen to get through the day. I was amazed the solution was this easy.  I would have been content on wearing the removable orthotic for the rest of my life until you told me we could permanently fix the bite problem by full mouth reconstruction. Without hesitation, I scheduled the appointment. Even though we are only halfway through the reconstruction, I feel better and have more energy than I have ever had.  I also cannot believe how much better my smile and jaw line look. What a wonderful side-effect! I am looking forward to the   adjustments to my lower fixed orthotic so we can finish the last half of the reconstruction.

"I was diagnosed with gum disease and of course, it scared me pretty bad. I didn’t realize the pain and swollen gums that bothered me so bad, and for so long was related to gum disease, rather I dismissed it as part of my sinus problems. Laser Periodontal Therapy (LANAP) was the recommended treatment, yet not one to deal with pain well, I was quite apprehensive. Knowing I needed to do whatever was necessary, I had the treatment started that day. To my surprise, there was absolutely no pain what so ever throughout the process. Doc told me I might experience some sensitivity the next morning, yet it should be very minor. I have to say, the only pain I felt the next day was … on the side of my mouth that had not been treated (as he could only treat one side at a time). Even though I had to drive 2 hours to my appointment, and they had already scheduled the completion of my treatment a couple of weeks out, I called the office the next morning requesting they let me know if there were any cancellations earlier, so I could get the other side done as fast as possible. As soon as the remainder of my treatment was finished, I could immediately feel the relief! I no longer had any sensitivity, no more swollen/sore gums, and felt as though I had a brand new smile. I would recommend Laser Periodontal Therapy to anyone who is diagnosed with gum disease … and would encourage having it done immediately! The longer you wait to have gum disease treated, the more chance you’re taking with your overall health. "

"I’ve suffered with jaw pain and headaches off and on for about 3 years. I’ve had to take as many as 4 Advil at a time several times a day for weeks to be able to function at work. The pain was usually worse as the day went on. It interfered with my ability to get to sleep as well as stay asleep all night. I’ve tried several things like sleeping with different size pillows and ice packs to ease the jaw and neck pain I had. Dr. Durham diagnosed my pain as a TMJ problem. He tensed my muscles and was able to determine where my bite should be. From that, he made a clear orthotic that I wear on my lower teeth. It puts my bite in a position that keeps my muscles relaxed. At first, I wore it all the time only taking it out to eat and clean my teeth. After the first few days, I was able to speak with is comfortably without anyone noticing I was wearing it. I’ve been pain free for 3 months now and only sleep with it in. From the start of wearing the neuromuscular orthotic, I haven’t had one headache or taken any Advil. My jaws don’t pop when I eat, and I am able to sleep comfortably now. I consider myself so lucky to have solved this pain problem that interfered with my daily routine."

"I would highly recommend this to anyone who has been told that they need periodontal surgery. There was very little discomfort during the surgery and very little pain afterwards. I went back to work the next morning.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect from this procedure, but it went much better than I had hoped. It is definitely easier than having your gums cut during surgery.

"This procedure was explained to me before I went in and it was performed just as it was explained. It took less time than I expected and it wasn’t painful at all. I was very comfortable during the surgery. I had no pain during the procedure or afterward. I went back to my normal routine as soon as I left the office.
