I’ve suffered with jaw pain and headaches off and on for about 3 years. I’ve had to take as many as 4 Advil at a time several times a day for weeks to be able to function at work. The pain was usually worse as the day went on. It interfered with my ability to get to sleep as well as stay asleep all night. I’ve tried several things like sleeping with different size pillows and ice packs to ease the jaw and neck pain I had. Dr. Durham diagnosed my pain as a TMJ problem. He tensed my muscles and was able to determine where my bite should be. From that, he made a clear orthotic that I wear on my lower teeth. It puts my bite in a position that keeps my muscles relaxed. At first, I wore it all the time only taking it out to eat and clean my teeth. After the first few days, I was able to speak with is comfortably without anyone noticing I was wearing it. I’ve been pain free for 3 months now and only sleep with it in. From the start of wearing the neuromuscular orthotic, I haven’t had one headache or taken any Advil. My jaws don’t pop when I eat, and I am able to sleep comfortably now. I consider myself so lucky to have solved this pain problem that interfered with my daily routine.
